Project health check checklist
Run this checklist when you take over a project, before a SteerCo, or whenever the reported status feels too good. Any 'no' is a place to look closer.
Governance
- There is a named sponsor who makes decisions.
- Tolerances for time, cost and scope are written down.
- SteerCo has met within its agreed cycle.
Plan
- There is an approved baseline, and the forecast is compared with it.
- The critical path is known and uses working days.
- No task is more than two weeks overdue without a decision.
Budget
- Totals match the cost lines underneath them.
- The forecast at completion has been updated this month.
RAID
- Every open item has one owner and a due date.
- Nothing has gone a month without an update.
Stakeholders and delivery
- Key stakeholders would describe the status the same way you do.
- The team knows the next milestone and its date.
